Welcome

You have found the Cook Group home page in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at North Dakota State University.

Our research is focused in two areas:

1) the
development of new synthetic methodology utilizing allyl organometallics, and

2) the applied
synthesis of molecules which have important biological function.

We have developed new asymmetric allylation methods for the selective generation of chiral amines utilizing environmentally benign indium and bismnuth catalysts. We are targeting cancer and other autoimmune diseases through the development of novel inhibitors for histone deacetylases. These enzymes are responsible for epigenetic regulation of tumor suppressors and other genes. Please explore our site to find out more about who we are and what we do.

Thank you for stopping by.
